I’m now in Denmark, ridiculously excited by having arrived here by a train that went onto a ferry. That’s a first for me. Passengers had to go on deck, which was very pleasant – although as the ferry started to tilt I realised that I hadn’t taken a travel sickness pill!
Flat countryside, odd vøwæls and a strange language that I feel I can almost understand . . . but definitely can’t. I shan’t forget my disgust years ago on my first visit to Denmark at realising I had mistaken pork scratchings for crisps.
