Patras – Agios Andreas and the castle

Back on dry land.  Patras is dusty, potholed and pock-marked. Traffic is mad . . . but nonetheless it’s great to be here. I like the many stoas, the restored buildings, and the liveliness of the city (boosted by its large student population). A shame that I arrive on a day when there is some kind of noisy go-cart race around the main square: it’s like being under attack by giant mosquitoes.
