I sometimes think that I would like to live in the Netherlands – if only because of the cycle paths, large windows, pleasing brickwork, and my guess that it would be very satisfying to roll my tongue round the vowels in words like “Sloterdijk”.
Today’s ride from Den Haag to the Hook was lovely – brilliant weather, which made the beach at Scheveningen look like Blackpool, and hardly any headwind. I do like the art nouveau houses on the edge of Scheveningen and Den Haag, and one of these days I will actually stop and take some photos. Meanwhile, here is the local wildlife on the dune path; I guess they’re useful for keeping vegetation in check and manuring it at the same time:
