Garden in March

Not much more is blooming this month than last – it’s just blooming more profusely. And there are so many signs of greenery along with the lighter evenings that you do finally believe that spring is coming.


Until last week I was worried that the purple hellebore was dead


I planted this bulb/corm/tuber last autumn and have no recollection what it is


Signs of life in the long grass. If you get down to ground level you can see the rolling boil of yellow rattle seedlings.


Grape hyacinths are providing food for early bees


The pear tree. Big question of 2016: will I get to eat the pears before the thieving squirrel does?
