Casa Batllo

Casa Batllo, Gaudi, 1904 (remodelling of an existing house)

Gaudi redesigned an existing house on one of Barcelona’s most prestigious nineteenth-century streets for industrialist Josep Batllo. Images or questions are probably the only possible response. Is this really St George slaying the dragon amongst bleached skulls and bones? Is the light well a Captain Nemo underwater world? Are those vertebrae on the staircase? Where can I get chimneys capped like that?

And I thought Victor Horta’s house in Brussels was far out!
